Maintenance Policy
Lilabati Mahavidyalaya has a set of established procedures and policies for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities - laboratory, library, sports facilities, computers, classrooms etc.
Maintenance of library
For maintenance of library infrastructure and facilities, the library committee has been given the responsibility to purchase, procure books, journals and other materials, as per the recommendations received from the departments of the colleges. For enriching the library, the committee procures good publications from national and international publishers. Students are able to take books by showing their library cards during office hours and teachers have the facilities to read and borrow books from the library. We have offline library maintenance software and have a proposal for complete digitization of library in the coming years. There will be e-Journals and online library facilities in the future.
Classroom facilities
The maintenance of classrooms is a regular exercise. The cleanliness of classrooms is ensured by a group of Part-time workers and sweepers. After the admission process in every semester it is ensured that all the classrooms have adequate desks, benches. The fans and electrical appliances are checked wherever requirements are found the purchase committee are appraised of the requirements. The purchase committee makes the purchases after approval from the Principal. There are three projectors one in smart classrooms and rest are moving projectors.
Maintenance of the sport facilities
Sports Committee takes the responsibilities for maintaining the sports and gym facilities of the college. The necessary goods and sports articles are purchased by the office of the principal as per the recommendations of the sports committee as per the requirement and suggestion of the students. The college authority purchases them by calling quotations from the reputed sports outlets. Periodically, steps are taken by the authority to develop the sports activities of the students. Annual Sports takes place on our own campus playground. Some sports and games are kept in boys’ and girls’ common rooms and gym and are given out for use of students under the monitoring of the Sports Committee Convener. Students with excellence and achievements are supported financially to a possible extent.
Academic Support
The college is affiliated to the University of North Bengal, Darjeeling. The college has an elaborate academic support mechanism. All the departments follow the syllabus of the University of North Bengal for the U.G. level. An examination committee, appointed by the Teachers’ Council for examinations and they are responsible for the smooth conduct of examination. The college follows the Constitutional provisions of reservation as well as rule of the State Government in the admission process. The students are provided the syllabus, question papers of previous years through links in the website.
Maintenance of the Geography Laboratory
The geography laboratory equipment and necessary items are purchased by the office of the principal and purchase committee as per the requirement of the geography department of the college.
Maintenance of Computers & IT facilities
The office of the principal decides about purchasing necessary IT equipments as per recommendations received from the departments of the colleges and the administrative office of the college. IT facilities are maintained by computer skilled personnel of the college and they also take the responsibilities of periodic up-gradations of the IT resources. The IT facilities are taken stock of by the administrations and they are modified or changed whenever necessary. There is a Computer management and IT maintenance cell in the college which looks after the maintenance of the computers and facilities. Few part-time employees are also entrusted with use and maintenance of these facilities.
Student support & welfare
There is a good environment for the benefit and welfare of the students in the college. Various sub-committees are there to provide support, services, students’ welfare and to meet their needs. The principal and is the chairperson of all sub-committees. There is a canteen which provides the healthy and hygienic food for the students as well as the staff of the college. We have a proposal to revamp canteen in the near future. College authority campaigns on health-related aspects like alcoholism, consumption of tobacco and its effects among the students etc. Internal Complaints Committee, Anti-Ragging Cell, Grievance Redressal Cell and Anti- Harassment Cell constitutes the Women’s Cell of the college for the welfare of the students. They communicate and discuss the problems and grievances of the staff and students. The SC-ST Cell, Minority Cell and OBC Cell takes care of the welfare of reserved category students of our college. IQAC in collaboration with college authority conducts sessions for mental and emotional well-being of the students. Yoga sessions are also arranged which is a good step for stress management. There is ample sitting arrangement in the college campus for the students. The campus has many dustbins, compost pit and rain-water harvesting for practicing Swachhata or cleanliness. The NSS Unit maintains social services within the campus and outside it. The College Website, official Facebook page and the Lilabati College App are used for urgent notification and communication with the students. The college authority along with the respective departments observe days of National and State level importance, so that the students of the college can participate, directly or indirectly, in the process of peace and harmony, unity and development of the Nation.
