About The Department

Lilabati Mahavidyalaya was established in the year 2013 in rural area of Jateswar, Alipurduar. It is a general degree College sponsored by West Bengal Government. The Mahavidyalaya has started it’s journey with taking five general courses, such as Bengali, English, History, Political Science and Education. The Department of Geography of Lilabati Mahavidyalaya has started its journey as general course since the inception of the college in 2016. The department started its journey with four students from the academic session 2016-17 under North Bengal University with the introduction of General course. The department has a developed laboratory. At present, it has one faculty member and around 20 students who are approaching towards their bachelor’s The department of Geography strives to develop a questioning mind, make learning a pleasure and prepare the students for their bright. Department aims at directing the students to higher academics or professional courses. The curriculum involves writing papers cond ucting exhibitions tutorial field work participation in household survey practical and map making methods. Both theoretical knowledge and practical skills are important through the use of modern ICT supplementary by the field excursion to Geographically significant locations. Knowledge of remote sensing and geographical information (GIS) nothing has high demand in the field of employment.

Program Outcome

Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environment. Geography explore both the physical properties of Earth’s surface and the human society.They also examine how human culture interact with the natural environment and the way those locations and places can have an impact on people. Geography 62 understand fire things are found why they are there and how they develop and changes over time. The study of the diverse environments places and spaces of the Earth surface and their interaction. It seeks to answer the questions of why things are as they are where they are. The modern academy discipline of Geography is rooted in ancient practice, concerned with the characteristics of places in particular their natural environments and people as well as the relationships between the two.

Course Outcome:

1. Attendance Requirements:
– Students must attend 75% of lectures and tutorials to be eligible for university exams.
– Continuous absence for more than 7 consecutive days must be reported to the H.O.D. with a written note signed by a parent.
– Attendance on the first and last day of each session, including holidays, is compulsory.
2. Examinations:
– Passing college periodical exams is required to qualify for the university examination.
– Participation in class tests and college selection tests is mandatory.
3. Library Rules:
– Departmental books can be borrowed from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
– Lost, defaced, or damaged books must be replaced by the borrower.
– Books must be issued before taking them out of the department.
– Borrowed books must be returned within a week; they can be reissued if needed.
4. Participation in Departmental Activities:
– Students must participate in departmental events such as exhibitions, class seminars, and special lectures.
5. Classroom Etiquette:
– Students are responsible for keeping the classroom and college surroundings clean.
– Lights and fans should be switched off after class.
