Program Outcomes & Course Outcomes
Lilabati Mahavidyalaya’s Outcome-Based Learning (OBL) framework is crafted to align with our mission and vision, focusing on holistic student development to prepare them for a competitive global environment. Adhering strictly to the syllabi set by the University of North Bengal, our approach ensures that students gain both knowledge and essential skills.
Program and Course Outcomes: Each program and course at Lilabati Mahavidyalaya has clearly defined Program Outcomes (POs) and Course Outcomes (COs), which are made accessible online via the college website, in departmental areas, and in the library. This transparency ensures that students understand the educational expectations and learning goals from the beginning.
Orientation and Overview: At the start of each academic term, comprehensive departmental orientation sessions are conducted. These sessions provide students with a detailed overview of the relevance of each course to professional fields and associated career opportunities, thereby enhancing their understanding and motivation.
Educational Strategy: Our educational strategy integrates diverse teaching methodologies and continuous assessments to foster comprehensive student development. We aim for students to acquire deep domain-specific knowledge, enhance communication skills, develop awareness of social, environmental, and sustainability challenges, and become well-informed citizens capable of addressing contemporary issues.
Monitoring and Feedback: The monitoring of POs and COs is conducted through ongoing assessments, departmental and academic committee meetings, interactions with the principal, and feedback from the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), students, parents, and teachers. Departments maintain detailed records of syllabus coverage, and semester-end discussions evaluate the attainment levels. The college website serves as a resource for students to access POs and COs and make informed course selections.
Career-Oriented Program: Our Career-Oriented Programme, including certificate courses, is designed to enhance students’ employability. This program focuses on improving writing, communication, leadership skills, and preparing students for competitive exams.
Adherence to University Norms: We rigorously adhere to University norms in Outcome-Based Learning by disseminating POs, Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs), and COs through academic calendars, classroom interactions, and induction programs. Department Heads emphasize the significance of these outcomes and guide students in acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge.
Evaluation and Assessment: Outcome attainment is evaluated through a mix of internal and university examinations, assignments, and diverse testing methods. Continuous faculty development initiatives support the enhancement of pedagogical strategies, ensuring effective teaching and assessment practices.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement: Feedback from students, alumni, and employers is crucial in assessing our educational objectives and evaluating the employability of our graduates. The success of our alumni in further studies or the workforce validates the effectiveness of our programs. These feedback mechanisms help us continually refine and improve our educational offerings.
Transparent Evaluation: The attainment of POs and COs is rigorously assessed through tests, assignments, group discussions, and presentations. Faculty members hold departmental meetings to evaluate student performance and discuss strategies for improvement. Results are transparently displayed on notice boards and the college website, promoting accountability and transparency in the evaluation process.
Supportive Learning Environment: The Academic Council and departmental meetings play a key role in analyzing student performance and developing strategies for academic enhancement. Emphasis is placed not only on academic achievement but also on addressing communication barriers, language proficiency, and psychological well-being. Through ongoing dialogue and collaboration, the college strives to create a supportive learning environment conducive to holistic student development.
