About the Department

The Department of History has been a part of Lilabati Mahavidyalaya since its establishment on 6th August 2013. The department started its general degree course the same year the College itself was inaugurated. Honours course in History is commenced from 2017 academic year to cater a wide range of academic interests and career aspirations. The curriculum emphasized the critical thinking and analytical skills. The course incorporates a wide-ranging historical periods and geographical regions which help students to gain a multifaceted knowledge. The students of this course are enlightened with the history of the different period of ancient and modern world. The Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) under CBCS mode introduced by North Bengal University in 2018 is designed to provide the students the vast knowledge on museums, archives, heritage, popular culture, art and architecture etc. The Department of history, Lilabati Mahavidyalaya is maintained by the devoted and experienced faculty members, who are committed to contribute to high-quality education. It focuses on the development of deep understanding on historical developments and events among the students.
